Once a player dies, their corpse will have a message saying the cause of their death. There are many of those messages in the game, this can give you useful information, for example, what SCP killed a person, this lets you know what SCPs are present in a round, if they are near or not, etc. Here are all messages currently in the game:
Those are death messages caused by human classes. Human classes have many ways to kill eachother and the SCPs.
This happens when a player dies by being shot by any firearm, no matter the caliber, with the exception of the Railgun and Grenade Launchers.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Bullet wounds can be found on the body”.
![]() |
When a player dies by the Railgun, all of the corpse’s body parts are separated and scattered across the room (Head, Torso and Limbs).
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Obliterated with a Railgun”.
![]() |
This happens when a player dies by a grenade or a grenade launcher.
When someone dies by grenades, their body can sometimes glitch and start partially clipping through the floor, like in the image.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Several shrapnel wounds can be observed on the body”.
![]() |
Self-Grenading is when a player dies by their own grenade or grenade launcher explosion. This can happend pretty often as grenades can ricochet back.
Just like with grenades, there is a chance that someone’s body will glitch and start partially clipping through the floor.
The message shown is: “🗿 Cause of death: Several shrapnel wounds can be observed on the body. 🗿”.
![]() |
This happens when a player dies by a melee weapon.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Blunt force trauma”.
![]() |
The Divine Intervention is a fully automatic RPG with infinite ammo, and can be only obtained via Admin Panel. Even though being an explosive weapon, its death message is different.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Severe burns and fractured bones”.
![]() |
Those are the deaths messages caused by SCPs. They can be caused directly or indirectly by them.
SCP-049 can kill any human class in one hit, but since they usually revive their victim shortly after, you will usually not stumble upon this message.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Sudden inaction of all biological functions”.
![]() |
SCP-049-2 is a SCP-049’s minion, which is a revived player’s dead body. They can damage and kill human classes if they deal enough damage.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Blunt force trauma and minor scrathes are present on the body”
![]() |
When a player dies by SCP-096, the body parts are separated and scattered across the room (Head, Torso and Limbs), like with Railgun.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Massive laceration and excessive blood loss”.
![]() |
This happens if a player dies within the Pocket Dimension, or if they are caught by SCP-106 after the Warhead detonates, as the player dies instantly while on these circumstances. When one of these situations happens, the player’s body and accessories become completely decayed, being turned into a black texture.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Experienced rapid degeneration.”
![]() |
There are 6 exits, which are portals, within the Pocket Dimension, and 2 are the correct ones.
If you choose the correct exit, you will be teleported to a random location within the Facility, which is a PD exit. However, if you choose the wrong portal, you will die and your body and items will be teleported to a random PD exit within the Facility.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Shattered bones and rapid degeneration”.
![]() |
When a player dies by SCP-173, their head is cut off from the player’s head and is unanchored from their body, meaning it can move freely for a while or until something stops it.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Cervical fracture at the base of the skull”.
![]() |
If a player killed by SCP-173 is revived by SCP-049, they will appear headless.
When a player dies by SCP-457, their body is completely burned, having a burned texture. The player’s accessories are also burned,
The message shown is: “Cause of death: This body has been burned”.
![]() |
The same message appears when SCP-457 burns a dead body, and the old death message is replaced with death by SCP-457 message.
Even though it’s an Admin Panel only SCP, it still has its own death message. Unlike other SCPs, there is no alteration on the player’s body after death.
The message shown is: “Large. deep bite marks on the body can be observed.”
![]() |
No, there is no typo, that’s how it is ingame. Complain to the devs about this and not me
This happens when a player dies by SCP-1507. Like SCP-939, there is no alteration on the player’s body after death.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Large stick holes poking from the body”.
![]() |
This happens when a player dies by SCP-1770-1, a minion from SCP-1770. Unlike SCP-1770-1, SCP-1770 instantly turns a player into a SCP-1770-1 after their death, so this is why there are no death messages for being killed by SCP-1770.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Strangled to death”.
![]() |
Unlike SCP-049-2s, SCP-1770-1s can die if they are too far away from SCP-1770.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Couldn’t sustain itself away from SCP-1770”.
![]() |
Those are deaths caused by SCP items, which are either caused because a player used it against another player, such as using SCP-034 against another person, or because the SCP’s effect killed the player, such as SCP-207 damaging effect.
SCP-034 is a knife, which after killing a player with it, you disguise as them, using their same clothes and accessories, and having the same name color and team name as them, but not changing to their team. SCP-034 kills any human class in one hit, and after using it SCP-034 is destroyed. The killed player also loses all their accessories after death.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: A large stab wound can be seen on the body”.
![]() |
When a player drinks SCP-207, they receive a speed boost, however, they receive 1 damage per second, if they’re unable to compensate for the constant loss of health, the player will die.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Massive internal organ failure”.
![]() |
SCP-330-5 is a black candy, which upon eating you explode after 3 seconds, damaging players around you.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: 🗿 Pulverized by a powerful explosion 🗿”.
![]() |
SCP-330 is a candy bowl with 43 candies, each type of them giving an advantage to the player upon eating. But, if the player takes more than 2 candies, they die, since they can only take 2 or less candies.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Dismembered hands”.
![]() |
Some cups from SCP-294 can kill a player upon drinking. Most of the cups that can kill a player show the message for “unknown” death, but here are the ones which show a different message.
The Cup of Boom, upon drinking, causes an explosion which kills the player.
The message shown is the same for SCP-330-5: “Cause of death: 🗿 Pulverized by a powerful explosion 🗿”.
![]() |
Drinking the Cup of 610 has has a chance to increase your Infected counter, and a 25% chance to kill you. If you turn into SCP-610 by drinking 5 of these cups without healing yourself, you get the “Patient Zero” hat.
Also, you cannot die by SCP-610 because it turns you into an SCP-610, like SCP-1770 does.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: bad immune system”.
![]() |
If you manage to reach the exit after drinking a Cup of 1984, you will instantly die after exploding.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: 🗿 Explosion 🗿"
![]() |
Players can also die by the map’s environment, if they don’t be careful. For example, if you jump from a high place, you might end up dying. Currently, those are the ways to die by the environment in the game.
When a player goes under an elevator, when it goes down, the elevator kills the player. Currently, this can only happen with the elevator inside Gate A.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Crushed by the elevator”.
![]() |
Tesla Gates are not so common in maps, but they are Gate which, when a player goes near it, it activates a wall of electricity, which kills any human and heavily wounds SCPs who aren’t careful enough to pass while the gate is on cooldown.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Severe electrical burns”.
![]() |
Fall Damage used to be a feature in official servers, but it was removed, but you can still enable it via the Admin Panel.
A player can die by fall damage by falling from a high place or by falling into an infinite abyss, such as the one in SCP-106 containment room.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Fell from a high place”.
![]() |
Every game, the Light Containment Zone (LCZ) begins a decontamination procedure approximately 10 minutes after the beginning a the round. Any player inside LCZ during the decontamination will begin taking damage, which will increase until they die. Both human classes and SCPs are affected by decontamination unless they are in god mode.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Suffocation”.
![]() |
Other deaths are deaths caused by other agents which are not listed above.
This death reason means the person died for a reason that hasn’t been specified in the game’s code, which defaults to this as a placeholder. There are many cases this message is used, such as SCP-294 cups which kills players and killing a player via Admin Panel.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Unknown”
![]() |
The game has a system that automatically kills players that haven’t moved a certain amount of distance after spawning, and automatically kicks them if they have been AFK killed twice in a row.
This system exists to prevent AFK round delaying, replacing AFK SCPs, dropping loot from high ranking classes, and from occupying player slots on the server.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: AFK for too long”
![]() |
If a player leaves the game, either by their own accord or being disconnected, their bodies will fall dead and drop all of their items.
The message shown is: “Cause of death: Died from a sudden heart attack”
These are death reasons that still exist in the game but were renamed, to fit better, for better underestanding or whatever reason.
Before the 2022 “Roblox Forced Update”, when a person entered the Femur Breaker, their body stayed in its entrance, showing a death message.
This could happen with human classes and SCPs, as SCPs used to be able to sacrifice as well, which has been patched. Currently, the sacrificed’s body disappears and leaves no death message.
The message shown was: “Cause of death: L + Ratio + Good job”.
Then, it was renamed to: “Cause of death: femured”.
And then, it was renamed again to: “Cause of death: Sacrificed”.
Self grenading, like said above, is when a player dies by their own grenade or grenade launcher. In the past, this was even easier to happen, as grenade launchers exploded instantly upon hitting the ground.
The message shown was: “Cause of Death: 🗿🗿🗿”.
These are death reasons that are exclusively used for April Fools Updates, the first iteration of these was on 2024 April Fools, and in 2025, new death reasons were made.
The 2024 April Fools update brought many changes and fun features.
For example, Evil Mood was added, which is the evil version of Mood, an emoji in the official P:SCP discord server, which is frequently used by the server members and became a popular character within the community.
Another feature added was the street. This new area was added behind Gate-B, which had a street with cars circulating on both sides. On the other side there was a glowing exit (spoiler alert it was a fake one).
![]() |
A new room was added in the Entrance Zone, which was called “Hellevator”. This room was a EZ straight hallway variation with a cargo elevator in the middle, After the update, this room was added officially to the game, but without the bottom part and with a non-working elevator.
This is how the Hellevator looked like during the 2024 April Fools update.
![]() |
This is how the bottom of Hellevator looked like before reaching the part on which the player would die, with red glowing walls.
![]() |
When you tried to touch Evil Mood it would kill you. This could only be achieved by teleporting to it or waiting for a CI spawnwave, since every time it occurred, Evil Mood would move itself further to CI spawn, as CI cars do when CI spawns.
The message shown was: “Cause of Death: mood doesnt like touch”.
![]() |
During that same event, the gateway was open and players could enter inside the tunnel on which CI Cars pass through when a CI spawnwave happens. However, if a player went too far inside the tunnel, Evil Mood would fire a red laser, killing the player instantly.
The message shown was: “Cause of Death: didn’t pass mood check”.
![]() |
This death reason was reused during the 2025 April Fools Update. Evil Mood was moved to the “Old” Surface Zone, and text was written on the floor to bait people into going inside where Evil Mood was located.
![]() |
If a player tried to cross the street, but was hit by a car, they would instantly die.
The message shown was: “Cause of Death: didn’t look both ways before crossing the street”.
![]() |
![]() |
Even if you still managed to cross the street while not being hit by a car, you would still die. This happened because a car would go off the road and hit you, no matter where you moved or were. This car could also been seen by other players.
The message shown was: “Cause of Death: thought he can cross the street”.
![]() |
If you went down the Hellevator, you would eventually reach a part which looked like the Nether Dimension from Minecraft, and once you reached the bottom you would instantly die.
The message shown was: “Cause of death: HORRORS”.
![]() |
On the 2025 April Fools Update, Spirits were added to the game, you could become one by meeting God on the new room “Heavenevator” (a revamp of last year’s Hellevator, that instead of going down to Hell, went up to Heaven) and being unlucky enough for your body to not be able to handle the journey to Heaven.
Spirits were able to walk through any door, with the exception of Checkpoint Doors, and were immortal, but were unable to interact with any door. They also had access to the [SPECTATOR] chat.
As a Spirit, you would have needed to drain Sanity from human players, or start to slowly die overtime.
The Hellevator also made a return, but with a twist, as it had turned into the “Heavenevator”. It went up instead of down and had a different design.
![]() |
If a player fell to Hell on accident while the Heavenevator was moving up, they would die once they reached the bottom and show the Fall Damage death reason.
![]() |
If you were haunted by a Spirit, you would slowly start to lose Sanity overtime, and you would instantly die if it reached 0. You could regain your Sanity by using healing items.
The message shown was: “Cause of death: The voices were too much for the mind to handle.”.
![]() |
As an Spirit, if you were to be unable to haunt any human player for approximately 1 minute, you would start to slowly lose HP until you die.
The message shown was: “Cause of death: Loss of lifeforce.”.
